Blood And Gold: Volume One

Blood and Gold is a Tom Riddle/Hermione Granger time-travel fanfiction set primarily in the 1940s–1950s era of the wizarding world. Hermione is accidentally transported into the past after an attempt involving a time-turner goes disastrously wrong. Instead of returning to a safer period of history, she finds herself in 1950, when Tom Riddle is still a young man and is beginning to establish the political and magical power that will eventually make him Lord Voldemort.

Hermione’s initial situation is extremely dangerous. She knows exactly who Tom Riddle will become and therefore understands that allowing him to continue unchecked could have catastrophic consequences. Her knowledge of the future gives her a possible opportunity to change history, but it also places her in direct opposition to one of the most intelligent and dangerous wizards of his generation.

Rather than simply attempting to return to her own time, Hermione becomes increasingly entangled in the society surrounding Tom. Pure-blood politics, the rise of Tom’s followers, dark magic, social maneuvering, and the formation of his political power base become important parts of the narrative. Tom is not yet the fully established Voldemort known from canon; he is ambitious, charismatic, calculating, and actively constructing the network that will eventually support his rise.

The central relationship develops from the fundamental conflict between Hermione’s knowledge of Tom’s future and Tom’s fascination with the mysterious woman who appears in his world. Their relationship is deliberately slow-building and morally complicated. Hermione must continually balance her desire to prevent the future she knows against her growing understanding of the man in front of her.

Volume One therefore combines time travel, political intrigue, psychological tension, dark romance, and alternate-history world-building. A major attraction of the story is the question of whether knowing the future gives Hermione genuine control over history—or merely makes her another piece in Tom Riddle’s increasingly elaborate plans.
